Cricket Footwear Buying Guide: Spikes, Studs, and Fit

Cricket footwear should be chosen around your workload, not just the look of the outsole.
If you play mostly on turf and bowl regularly, spikes usually make sense because they provide more aggressive traction and better confidence through the crease. For mixed practice surfaces, lighter rubber-stud trainers can be the smarter option.
Fit matters just as much as traction. Heel lockdown, forefoot comfort, and enough room for natural movement all affect how your body feels late in the day.
A good shoe disappears into the background. That is usually the clearest sign you bought the right pair.
